K. Johnson, Director/Teacher 970-586-4404, ext. 20 nancyjohnson@estesvalley.net What is a Christian Preschool? "Learning begins in wonder." A Christian preschool provides a way to help young children view the world as God's creation. It is also an opportunity to learn values using Bible stories. Our goal is to reinforce the values taught at home and in Sunday School, not replace them. - Mission Community Church of the Rockies believes "Children are a gift of the Lord" (Psalm 127:3) and will provide a Christian environment where children will grow socially, intellectually, physically, and spiritually. Director / Teacher Nancy Johnson has her Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education and over 30 years of experience teaching preschool through eighth grade. Programs - A M-W-F program is offered to 4 & 5 year olds. The sessions are from 8:30-11:00 AM. - A T-TH program is offered to 2 1/2 and 3 year olds. The sessions are from 8:30-11:00 AM.
Christian Preschool Curriculum The goal of our curriculum is to foster social, intellectual, physical, and spiritual growth. The following objectives will insure our success: Instructional activities will be presented in centers during playtime and during small group instruction with a game format based on the interests of the children. The nature trail at the church will provide and environment for observing and learning about plants and animals. Bible stories, quality literature (Caldecott Award books), poems, finger-plays and songs will enrich the curriculum. Visits to the Sanctuary and conversations with the Pastor will support our values of being kind, being safe, and living by the Golden Rule Discipline -To provide a loving, caring environment for each child -To stimulate the child's curiosity to explore and discover the world around him/her through experience -To encourage the child to actively participate in the learning process through self-selection of activities during playtime that lead to making decisions and problem-solving -To provide a well-planned environment that promotes success and develops a positive self-concept and love of learning -To provide the child with opportunities for interaction with children of similar and different cultural and social life styles -To provide and integrated learning environment which incorporattes science, mathematics, art, music, reading/language arts, perceptual and motor skills Behavior expectations for different parts of the school day will be taught in the first sessions and will remain consistent. Positive reinforcement will be used to maintain good behavior. Preschool is an opportunity for children to learn to share, take turns and follow the Golden Rule within a small group. The staff will nurture these social skills with praise and redirect when necessary. Our goal is for children to be kind and be safe. School Calendar The preschool is following the public school calendar. When there is no school for the public schools, we have no school. Please listen to the local radio for school closings in case of inclement weather. Pre-School Application |
