Columbarium

Located on a picturesque ridge kissed by the morning sun in the east and graced by the majestic Rocky Mountains in the west, Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies' Columbarium provides a meditative place of remembrance for those passed on to Glory.

A Columbarium by definition is an area designated for the burial of cremated human remains. Cremation is a simple, dignified and inexpensive form of burial.  For those persons who are Christian, it seems appropriate to provide a burial place for their ashes in a beautiful area near the church they have attended. To have access to a loved one's burial place at any time is a great comfort to family and friends of the deceased. These were the primary reasons that a resolution was adopted at our congregation meeting of September 29, 1985, providing for the establishment of a Columbarium on church property.

The site of the Columbarium is approximately one hundred feet south of Brodie Avenue, between the church access drive and Fish Creek, an area easily identified. Features include a stone wall with a bench for rest and meditation, a hydrolyzed granite walk from the church access drive leading to the Columbarium area, an outdoor chapel, a Meditation Trail and the new O'Neill Memorial Shelter. All are designed to offer a haven for peaceful remembrance and reflection.

Burial Arrangements: Typically, the funeral home makes burial arrangements and provides a copy of the necessary certificates. Columbarium rules provide for the burial of cremated human remains only, of members of Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies, or such member's spouse, parents and children. (Exception to this regulation can be made by a 2/3 vote of the Session.)
